Cornwall’s varied landscape offers all kinds of cycling experiences, ranging from traffic free and fairly gentle paths for beginners to more challenging hilly roads and woodlands tracks for confident cyclists and mountain bikers.

Cornwall boasts many family friendly trails with large traffic free sections. These include the Coast to Coast Mineral Tramways trail from Portreath to Devoran on the south and the Camel Trail from Padstow to Bodmin.

Part of the National Cycle Network, the Cornish Way is a 180 miles long route that runs from Land’s End to Bude and takes riders through some iconic sights of Cornwall passing through woodlands, beaches, seaside towns and harbours. About 29 miles of the route is traffic free and the rest of the route has been designed to avoid major roads. More details of the route and a map can be found on the Sustrans website here.

Cornwall Council also manages many multi-use trails across the County and provides descriptions of each trail on their website here.

Cycling UK has also announced in May the launch of the West Kernow Way, a new 150miles loop route of west Cornwall starting in Penzance. More details about the route are expected to be released in the early Autumn. You can read the press release here about the route announcement here.
